چکیده
Chemically modified silica is widely used as a reinforcing filler in elastomers. The modification generally done situ while preparing the rubber. However, order to increase efficiency and facilitate mixing process, can be pre-treated by 2-step molecular layer deposition. precursors for are 3-mercaptopropyl-triethoxysilane (MPTES) octanoyl chloride (OC) react with MPTES form blocked silane. precipitated nanofiller was successfully treated showed self-limiting behavior: saturation occurred at 2.7%. Furthermore, DRIFTS (diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy) analysis confirmed successful deposition of on surface showing -SH peak that appeared after reaction silica. In second step, OC introduced thioester MPTES-treated silica, controlling reactivity mercapto group from blocking it prevent negative influence processing behavior Thermogravimetric (TGA), Fourier-transform spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analytical results silane TGA demonstrated OC, XPS proved formation. A 2nd step appeared. At same time, disappearance signal observed, indicating formation structure. Transmission electron microscopy has well-distributed carbon sulfur MPTES/OC treatment.

Improved deposition and deprotection of silane tethered 3,4 hydroxypyridinone (HOPO) ligands on functionalized nanoporous silica.
An improved synthesis of a 3,4 hydroxypyridinone (HOPO) functionalized mesoporous silica is described. Higher 3,4-HOPO monolayer ligand loadings have been achieved, resulting in better performance. Performance improvements were demonstrated with the capture of U(VI) from human blood, plasma and filtered river water.

An improvement to molecular imprinting in polymers, where bulk systems often suffer from slow dynamics of release and uptake, is the formation of thin films with imprinting sites that are more rapid to access by guest molecules. Based on our previous development of surface molecular imprinting layer-by-layer (LbL) films (SMILbL), the present paper presents selective imprinted sites in a surface...
